Glasgow training programme (18-30 July 2010) - fully subscribed We have experienced considerable demand this year for places on our 2-week 'Making Markets Work' training programme to be held in July 2010. The programme is currently fully booked but we are still accepting applications for the waiting list. If you wish to be placed on a mailing list for future training course announcements please send your details to: global@springfieldcentre.com
Alumni group on Facebook We have launched an alumni group on Facebook to facilitate networking amongst participants of our M4P training programmes. The group is available to anyone who has previously attended one of our training programmes (the majority of you will already have received an email from us on this subject). If we have lost touch with you and you'll like to join then either do a group search on Facebook for 'Springfield Centre Training Programme Alumni' or email us for instructions (global@springfieldcentre.com). We are hoping for some lively discussions!
New members of the Springfield Centre team We were delighted to welcome Sarah Brown and Daniel Nippard to our Durham-based team back in June. Since then we have kept them very busy attending the Glasgow training programme (plus the DCED event in Chiang Mai) followed by work in Nigeria and Indonesia. See our team page for background on our two new team members.
New material on M4P available Three new documents on the making markets work for the poor (M4P) approach have been published by SDC and DFID: (1) the M4P Synthesis – a summary of the key arguments for and features of the approach; (2) Perspectives on M4P – eight papers positioning M4P in relation to different fields of development and (3) the M4P Operational Guide – a more detailed resource document on how to put the approach into practice. These documents were launched at events in Asia and Africa in late-2008 and early-2009 and should be a useful resource in improving the application of M4P and taking it forward into new areas. The Springfield Centre coordinated the development of each of these in conjunction with a range of advisors. The documents are available on our website (Resources/Springfield papers)
