Developing outputs for the public domain is a priority for us. While much of the Springfield Centre’s work is for individual clients (and private), we consider participating in wider debate and learning to be an important responsibility in order to contribute to the advancement of the private sector development field. Key parts of our work find their way into public fora and some of these – by Springfield staff or associates – are listed below.

Private sector responsive vocational education in Serbia

VEEDA, August 2017

This case study explores how systemic changes has unfolded in Serbia’s vocational education and training system improving the employability of young people. Using a variety of tactics, the project changed the curriculum development process in the wood and furniture sector sustainably. The case highlights that empowering market system players to take part and co-own a reform process is paramount for a positive change. This however does not take place unless projects choose the right facilitation tactics that unleash their incentives and capacities. Systemic changes unfold in various, not necessarily sequential phases; projects need to adapt strategies and tactics as new players become the focus of evolving interventions.
