It has been announced that Thailand are to introduce a new Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) system for ALL non-Thai nationals entering Thailand by air, land, or sea from 1 May 2025.

All travellers must complete the online registration process within 3 days before their arrival in Thailand. You will then receive an email acknowledgement which must be shown at the immigration counter, along with your other travel documents.

Please note that this process is designed to replace the traditional paper-based arrival card, but NOT intended to replace your official visa, should you require one.

The Making Market Systems Work training programme will take place at the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel (8/2 Rangnam Road, Thanon-Phayathai, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400). Please view the hotel website for photos and directions.

All classes are to be held at ‘The Sixth’ – modern and spacious meeting rooms located on the sixth floor in the Glass Tower part of the hotel.

Airport transfers

Alternatively, public taxis are readily available from the airport – you will need to pay the driver directly for additional road tolls (ensure that the taxi is ‘on meter’ and that you have some lower denomination Thai Baht notes). There is also an Airport Rail Link which stops at Phayathai Station (a short distance from the hotel). From there you could either use the BTS Skytrain or get a taxi for the short trip to the hotel. BTS Skytrain

The Bangkok BTS Skytrain system is a convenient and efficient option for travel around the city. Please view the BTS website for details on routes and tickets. Fares are dependent upon the number of stations/zones you travel through. Single journey tickets, day passes or top-up ‘rabbit’ cards are available (from THB 150, depending upon the amount of credit you add). A Rabbit Card with 100 Baht will be provided in your welcome packs.

Registration for the programme will take place at Glen Bar (on the Ground Floor of the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel) between 16.30 and 17.30 on Sunday 11th May 2025, when you will be given your welcome pack and event material. We’ll also have some light refreshments available. This will also give you a chance to meet some of the training team and your fellow participants.

Here is a copy of the programme schedule – you’ll get a hard copy of this in your course materials when you arrive.

A buffet lunch will be provided (Monday-Friday each week of the programme) and break time refreshments will be provided near the training rooms also (all included in the event fee).

There will be bottled water available on the training floor which is provided in reusable glass bottles.

Dress throughout the course is casual but participants may like to bring smarter wear for the group photograph and the final dinner.

At the end of the year, Bangkok is at its driest, though there is still a chance of rain. In November, temperatures generally settle between 24°C and 31°C. The air-conditioned training rooms can be quite chilly when you are sitting still, however, so bring a sweater/cardigan/fleece!

It is advisable to bring a bag to carry training materials (a large, 80mm thick A4 binder) in during the event (do leave room in your suitcase for your training materials).

We’ve put together some basic information to help you make the most of your visit. A hard copy will be in your welcome pack also.

Travellers should assess whether they are fit to travel (check with your airline on specific medical conditions including infectious diseases viruses) and should not travel if they feel they would be putting themselves or others at risk. Internet access

The Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel offers complimentary WiFi connectivity throughout the hotel. Whilst a laptop is not required for the event (and usage during training discouraged), it would be useful for internet access during your stay. There are two computers available at ‘The Sixth’ (charge is usually THB 100 per hour but complimentary for our group) and two available in the hotel lobby (15 minutes of free usage for guests).

Participants are advised to obtain Thai Baht (THB) before they travel or on arrival in Thailand (there are exchange booths at the airport and near the venue hotel). You should have adequate funds to cover all meals and any personal expenditure. Credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are widely accepted. We estimate that participants should allow THB 1000 to THB 1500 for daily subsistence (excluding accommodation costs) although lunch is provided on training days. Please note that if you are not able to provide a credit card to the reservations staff when you check-in to a hotel, you will likely have to provide a cash deposit during your stay (refunded at check-out if you do not put any charges on your room). This is standard in most international hotels.

Standard voltage in Thailand is 220-240 AC, 50 Hz. Power sockets usually accommodate two flat blades or two round pin plugs, so you may need an adapter. True Move, AIS and DTAC are the leading mobile connectivity suppliers in Thailand. It is worth considering purchasing a prepaid SIM card (available at airports, phone shops, 7/11 convenience stores) if your provider does not offer economical coverage.

Thailand has very strict lèse majesté laws. Under Section 112 of the Thai Criminal Code it is illegal to defame, insult, or threaten the king, queen, heir-apparent, or regent. The law has been rigorously enforced in recent years, with punishments of between 3 and 15 years imprisonment per infringement.

Vaporisers (like e-cigarettes and e-baraku) or refills cannot be brought into Thailand. These items are likely to be confiscated and you could be fined or sent to prison for up to ten years if convicted. The sale or supply of e-cigarettes and similar devices is also banned and you could face a heavy fine or up to five years imprisonment if found guilty.be provided in your welcome packs.
