KATALYST, Bangladesh, October 2014

This case study explores the approach taken by the Katalyst programme in supporting Bangladesh’s public agricultural extension service to overcome its resource challenges through the application of a market systems approach. Extending the outreach and responsiveness of agricultural information services required Katalyst to find a way of leveraging the incentives of local private sector players across the country to work with public authorities. The public-private partnerships which resulted improved communication of farmers’ information demands and enhanced knowledge transfer to the farming population.
