This position paper reviews the state of the BDS field six years after the publication of the original Donor Committee guidelines. It urges, among other steps, that BDS be placed firmly within the market development paradigm, that BDS be placed at the centre of wider private sector development thinking (and out of the confines of a BDS “box”), and that the term “BDS” be retired in favour of the more usual (and meaningful) term, “business services”.
